Transition Nelson- CG Minutes

Present: Dale, Tara, Nathan, Shawn, Cathrine, Bill

NELSON BUSINESS ASSOCIATION PRESENTATION:
-Shawn will help with this.  Dale will bring him into the loop.

WHAT DO WE WANT OUT OF THIS DAVE WAHN/MAYOR MEETING:
-To learn about the City’s sustainability/community plans.
-To ask how TN can help.
-To communicate our ability to help facilitate an open discussion which could help in the formation of their Community Plan.
-Bring up the idea of an EDAP which would stress resiliency, not just sustainability.

PROJECTS:
-Nathan will send out his list of projects to the group.

CLIMATE JUSTICE:
-Tabled for next meeting.

EARTH DAY:
-Dale will send out the earth day project alert.

EMAIL LIST:
-Core group needs to be revamped, re-organize all groups.  Dale will propose an updated initiating group list.

TRANSITION TIMES:
-New Directive: Nathan and Tara will work to make Transition Times available on the website, and in an email format.

ACTION GROUP ASSET MAPPING:
-Over 200 NGO’s already identified.
-Shawn will send out e-mail about partnership meeting on Thursday.

OST FACILITATOR DISCUSSION:
-A great attractant for funding is that you have OST reports which identify common themes.  Reporting which in detailed is essential for funding.  We must generate a report, will that be our facilitator or us?

Tara thinks we should hire a pro to facilitate who might coach a group of us to help with the event.

The CG should serve as scribes at the OST and help to to synthesize the products of the open space into an intelligible report.

Cathrine suggested a facilitator is a priority for our money.  Shawn thinks we need to focus on raising funds for this.

-4 questions: Desired outcomes, deliverables of facilitators, stuck on OST or willing to alter, and who hires?  Discussion tabled.

-Vote:  To allocate funds to hire a facilitator.  Passed.  Details to be discussed next Tuesday.

-Bill will check to see if Chris Corrigan creates a report as part of his OST facilitation services.

FUNDING:
-Donations.  New Directive:  Complete the section of the website which would allow people to donate.
-Dale will check into legal protocol around donating.

SPOKESPERSON:
-Shawn and Tara elected as spokespeople.

NEXT MEETING:
Tuesday at Cathrine’s.  2920 Granite road.  7pm.
